I remember this being the first “metal” song I heard that wasn’t a Metallica song on the radio. I think it may have been through a friend’s brother, but really I can’t remember that detail. I do remember sitting the floor of a concrete floor facing a stereo system blasting Chaos A.D.
Chances are I was under the age of 5, but this could just me changing the age for affect.

I recorded bedtracks for Matt’s band demo, which is still nameless - therefore un-hypeable - and during the ordeal I was coaxed into playing the studio’s banjo (with a cracked bridge and two missing strings) for the demo’s outro.
This is me. Wanking a banjo.
I don’t know how to play banjo. But thanks to extreme boredom and some handy editing I managed to haphazardly create this outro out of a few riffs. The strings I altered from a previous session I composed. I am too lazy to create something new. It’s 3:50 in the morning. I’ll most likely add more to this later. Unless Matt is happy.

It took 9 hours. I had to start/finish ADR (automated dialogue replacement) which included me having to wrap my head in duct tape and scream until I got light headed. Within those 9 hours I had 4 pieces of pizza, drank 5 cups of coffee, spat up two energy drinks and fully embraced my renewed addiction to nicotine. Did you know that there is a helicopter sound right when he is cutting off the ear? Seriously. There is a fucking helicopter swirl sound clearly heard during actually cutting part. The mind is so obfuscated due to the earlessness and Stealers Wheel that you don’t notice it. Foley was an awkward bitch on stilts for this. That’s all I’ll saying on that.
This has been As Modest As Dillinger. It’s currently 4:30 am.

Male rape. Thought I would just get that out of the way. Only two issues in this series has already earned my loyalty with nothing more than extreme torture scenes and a fat guy getting raped.
Am I a bad person for being won over by that?
…So. I was told that this current run (even though, again, it’s only two issues in) holds a striking resemblance to Garth Ennis’ run on Punisher Max. Other than the utter extremes that Aaron channels in his writing this is also drawn by Ennis partner, Steve Dillon so I can see where the similarities are, however they could be purely cosmetic for all I know at this point.
It’s good. I’ll be reading it. As with everything else I recommend this comes with a “if you have the stomach for it” recommendation.

Extreme Metal Hunks: J. R. Hayes (Pig Destroyer, Enemy Soil, Treblinka, Hissing Choir, Agoraphobic Nosebleed)
Hot Because: This. Ok, I’m done here.
Ideal Date: As the rain starts to fall you remove your wide-rimmed hat to look into the eyes of one J.R. Hayes. He appears agitated, “I’m a slithering monster haunting your holy footsteps,” he speaks with all the finesse of Gary Bucy and the intensity of a Clint Eastwood character. By accident, you grab his skull in an attempt to touch the flesh of his face. Your fingers slide into his skin, melting like blood flow in trenches.
“Wait,” a voice is heard, the two of you struck stoic as a light is born from your chest in gunpowder flames. The both of you are struck by the blow - symmetrical death-strokes and all. Heart-shaped exist wounds, I assume, were the influence.
Dealbreaker: …uh-k? This is the one where you’d be a little scared for your life if he wrote a song about you.
Next Week: I’ll stop ripping off things from the dream I had the night before.
