…is a problem in which you must choose between two equally shit options. Example — you must inform your boss that you slept with their child (who, for the sake of the example, is of legal age but nonetheless is off limits) OR you must pay money to a co-worker who is threatening to leak the same information to your boss. Either you loose your job by revealing the information OR it’s used to blackmail you with no real guarantee that the information wont get to your boss. That’s a dilemma.
A dilemma is not a problem with a clear outcome that is either hindered by your own ignorance or can be solved simply by being a little more proactive. Example — having to buy a bottle of wine as a gift for a friend who is judgemental, an elitist, a snob, or is simply more learned than you on wine is not a dilemma.
It seems dilemma is joining the ranks of plethora and pedantic as words that dumb people misuse in an attempt to sound smart.
